Does Flooring Installation Require a Commercial Construction Company?

It may seem strange to hire a commercial construction company to put in new floors. After all, at its simplest, flooring installation requires pulling up the old flooring and gluing down the replacement, right? The fact is that in many cases, this project presents more than the simplest of challenges. This is especially true in commercial environments.

In order to get the longest possible life out of the new flooring, the underlying surface must be brought to perfect condition. Usually, this requires some renovation work. Floorboards may be warped, cracked, or even have gouges and holes in them. Some boards also may have been damaged by water, have rot, or otherwise have lost their structural integrity. There is also the problem of completely removing the old adhesive, which is not always realistically possible.

These problems require old floorboards, and in some cases, underlying framework, to be removed and replaced with new materials. This sort of work is best done by a commercial construction company. It will know exactly what is needed to create a subfloor that can handle the demands of the high traffic and high weight environments found in commercial situations.

Of course, the commercial construction company won't just stop and walk away once the underlying flooring is repaired. It will finish the job by installing the visible flooring layer, and the floor will be ready to use when its work is complete. This makes it easy for building owners or lessees to get the exact look they want with just one contract.

Since everything will be properly repaired and prepared before the new flooring goes down, customers will get the maximum lifespan from their new floors. This saves money over time by eliminating the need to have the floor redone too soon.
